SBA List, Live Action, Members Demand Government to End $363 Million in Tax Funding

WASHINGTON, Feb. 9, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Today, in the wake of six videos released showing Planned Parenthood employees in several states aiding and abetting in the alleged sex trafficking of minors, the Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) and Live Action will hold a press conference Thursday, February 10, at 11:30am ET at 441 Cannon House Office Building in Washington, DC featuring the Pro-Life Women's Caucus and pro-life Members of Congress who will call on their colleagues to defund Planned Parenthood.

The latest Planned Parenthood annual report disclosed receiving more than $363 million in government grants and contracts, including Title X funds, between 2008 and 2009. Over the same period, Planned Parenthood reported performing 324,008 abortions, the most it has ever performed.

Led by SBA List and Live Action, the Expose Planned Parenthood coalition of 25 state and national pro-life groups have called for February 10 to be a national call day when grassroots urge their Members of Congress to support the "Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act" to defund Planned Parenthood. On February 3, SBA List and coalition members hosted a live webcast that drew more than 40,000 viewers on www.ExposePlannedParenthood.com and even more on FRC.org, Townhall.com and CBN.com.

The Susan B. Anthony List spent $11 million during the 2010 midterm election cycle. Overall, the SBA List was involved in 90 races including 62 wins and 28 losses. Successes included: defeating 15 of 20 so-called "pro-life" Democrats who voted for abortion funding in the health care reform bill; increasing the number of pro-life women in the House by 70 percent; filling the void of pro-life women in the U.S. Senate and increasing the number of pro-life women governors from one to four.
