Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Celebrates 147th Annual Camp Meeting Week

WHAT: Celebrates 147th Annual Camp Meeting Week

A cherished and highly anticipated tradition every summer, OGCMA was founded in 1869 when the Camp Meeting Movement (camp grounds to which Christians came from miles around to hear a series of traveling ministers) was in full swing. During Camp Meeting Week, worship opportunities, Bible study and Christian music events are offered each day, with programs for all ages. Today, Ocean Grove is the longest-active site of its kind in the U.S.

WHEN: SUNDAY, JULY 31 – SUNDAY, AUGUST 7, 2016

All Camp Meeting Events and other activities are open to the public, including Sunday worship services in the Great Auditorium. AMONG THE KEY EVENTS ARE:

  • Sunday, July 31 – Founders Day – Dr. Tom Tewell will preach in the Great Auditorium
     
  • Monday, August 1 thru Wednesday August 3, Tewell will lead a daily Bible Hour in the Bishop Janes Tabernacle,
     
  • Wednesday August 3 – Free Summer Band Concert – OGCMA Band will perform "Hymns of Faith," Great Auditorium, 8:00 p.m.
     
  • Bible Hour is held at 9:00 a.m. daily at The Tabernacle, with periodic services throughout the week at the Beach Pavilion, Thornley Chapel, Youth Temple, and The Great Auditorium.
     
  • Thursday August 4 – Saturday August 6 – Rev. David Cotton will lead the Bible Hour
     
  • Thursday, August 4 – "Grand Orchestra and the Great Organ" – Concluding OGCMA's "Summer Stars" classical music series, Jongen's Symphonie Concertante, 7:30 p.m.
     
  • Sunday, August 7 – Communion Worship, Close of Camp Meeting, Dr. R.T. Kendall will lead worship at 10:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. with a celebration of "Great Hymn Singing."
