VISTA, Calif., April 6, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- Every two years, North Coast Church shuts down services for the weekend to go out into the community and show God's love by being the hands and feet of Jesus. The 2015 Weekend of Service will take place April 25-26 with 10,000 volunteers. The goal is to complete over 400 site improvement projects worth more than $2 million in billable labor and materials across Vista, Oceanside, Carlsbad/La Costa, San Marcos, Escondido and Fallbrook.

PROJECT SITES INCLUDE: Public schools, hospitals, city parks, veteran and senior housing, non-profit organizations, community centers and homeless shelters. Each site has submitted a "wish list" that is being granted. Some large projects with complex construction plans have already begun. This year's Project Managers include a mix of professional contractors, as well as a Boeing executive, a Hollywood film and award show producer, an ex-NFL player, an active duty marine helicopter pilot, and a preschool teacher. There are service opportunities for families with children, all the way up to senior adults.

The effort is coordinated by a retired fire captain who oversees the 100+ Project Managers who lead the volunteer teams at each site. "It's a ton of work, but the reward is seeing how much we're able to impact our community in just one weekend," says Pastor Chris Brown. "It's a great way for our church to be the church, instead of just go to church."

ABOUT NORTH COAST: North Coast Church has four San Diego County campuses including Vista (main), Carlsbad, Fallbrook and San Marcos/Escondido and is the country's largest Evangelical Free Christian church. During the first Weekend of Service in 2007, 5,000 volunteers produced $1 million of improvements. Apart from the Weekend of Service, North Coast annually averages 10 community service projects per week. The church's teaching pastors are Dr. Larry Osborne and Pastor Chris Brown.
