ENUMCLAW, Wash., Aug. 12 /Christian Newswire/ -- "Throughout the nearly 1,400 year history of Islam, Muslims have resisted the Christian gospel. Many Christians tried to reach them with the good news with little success. But according to many reports from the Middle East and around the world, that history is changing." This is according to Chris Mitchell's CBN News article "More Muslims Responding to the Gospel."* The story reports on a mysterious increase in Muslim conversions to Christianity. Men and women in the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the United States are being drawn from hatred of the Christian message, to Jesus. They share how Jesus has forgiven their sins, giving them eternal life and peace.
Alexis Johnson, a former member of the Nation of Islam (NOI- an Islam sect started by W.D. Fard Muhammad and Elijah Muhammad), shares such a story in "I was a Minister in the Nation of Islam." Johnson converted to the NOI in prison after racial prejudice and abuse caused him to become disillusioned with the Christian church. His book follows his years in the NOI, as well as the experiences and circumstances that brought him back to the Christian faith. "I began to realize that I could no longer live by the Islamic law," Johnson says. "Even if I prayed five times per day and fasted during the month of Ramadan, and read the Quran I still did not feel that I had the assurance of salvation. I began to realize that I was a sinner, and came to see that Jesus died for my sins." He hopes that the book will win souls to Christ that are entrapped by Islam, and to reveal what Farrakhan is really teaching. While the NOI teaches that blacks are gods and all whites are "devils" Johnson hopes to shine light on the truth. "I want my readers to take from this book that the answer to our problems is not found in the white man or the black man but in Christ."
