COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 10, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Created Equal, an anti-abortion group, is leading a campaign to urge Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy McGinty to charge Ariel Castro with fetal homicide in the deaths of several unborn children during the abduction of three women. The Ohio Fetal Homicide Law (ORC 2903.01) reads, "No person shall purposely, and with prior calculation and design, cause the death of another or the unlawful termination of another's pregnancy." One of the three women, Michelle Knight, has told investigators that Castro impregnated her at least five times and that he starved her and punched her repeatedly in the stomach to force her to miscarry, according to a Cleveland police report.
Created Equal is circulating a letter to national pro-life leaders to urge Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy McGinty to charge Castro. The letter will be delivered to McGinty next week.
"Castro needs to be charged with murder in the deaths of these unborn children. This case is not about abortion. Abortion supporters need to join with anti-abortion forces in calling for Castro to be charged with murder under the Ohio Fetal Homicide Law. What happened to Ms. Knight is the worst kind of domestic violence. She and her unborn children deserve justice." -- Mark Harrington, Executive Director, Created Equal
