ENUMCLAW, Wash., Aug. 20 /Christian Newswire/ -- According to averaged results from a number of Gallup Polls conducted in 2006, 84% of Americans claim religion to be either "very important" or "fairly important" to their daily lives; a full 60% believe religion to be the answer to all of life's problems.

Author David Salmonsen's new book "Who Have You Made Me?" addresses this widespread importance of relationship and the difficulties many people face in their search for God. The first chapter opens with the words, "Where are you God?" and focuses on the discrepancy between a life spent in regret and discontent verses a path of growth and blessing.

"My book is about second chances, real people searching for answers, and the spiritual dysfunction that binds and oppresses God's people."

Largely a collection of vignettes, "Who Have You Made Me?" illustrates mankind's thirst for a relationship with God. Having developed from journal entries began in 1997, the manuscript depicts the struggles and victories in the life of a Christian driven by desire for connection and understanding, yet hindered by sin, Salmonsen says.

"This book grew from my personal journal about my walk with the Lord. As I grew spiritually, God began to reveal truths to me in a way I could understand. My hope is the Lord would reveal himself in a new way to the reader and put in them a new hunger to know him more."

Salmonsen reminds the reader that Creator God longs to know each person in a more intimate and deeper way. He contends that the unwillingness to surrender drives individuals into spiritual bondage. Yet through God's grace, this rebellion eventually transforms to a realization of the necessity of God and the importance of religion for every day life.

"It took me a long time to realize that I can go through any turmoil in life and no matter where I go or what terrible things I do; God will come after me and dig me out."

David Salmonsen is a Regional Sales Manager for major manufacturing company. He and his wife and children currently make their home in Georgia.
