Christian Newswire/ -- At its annual convention April 4-6, 2018, in Orlando, Florida, the Evangelical Press Association presented Alliance Life, the official magazine of The Christian and Missionary Alliance (the C&MA, The Alliance), with its Award of Excellence in the category of Denominational Print Magazine. Present to receive the award was Martha Renaud, the magazine's managing editor.
Among the judge's comments:
"Deep, thoughtful, engaging. AL is not afraid to allow into print the hard parts of being disciples . . . Writers seem free to mention their doubts, making the articles more compelling."
"The personal stories, along with denominational news, engage the reader. The message is: '[The] C&MA is where I can grow.'"
"A feast!!!"
The Alliance magazine was first published in 1882 under the title The Word, The Work, and The World by Alliance founder A. B. Simpson. In 1950, A. W. Tozer took the reigns as editor of the magazine, then called The Alliance Weekly. He remained in that role until shortly before his passing in 1963.
Alliance Life currently reaches 50,000 households, encouraging its readers to celebrate the joyous life that can be found in Jesus Christ and reporting the forward momentum of His Church through the worldwide ministries of The Alliance.
The Evangelical Press Association is the world's largest professional organization for the evangelical periodical publishing industry. It provides members with opportunities to build relationships and strengthen professionalism within the evangelical community. Its first convention was held April 4-6, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois.
