FOWLERVILLE, Mich., Oct. 5 /Christian Newswire/ -- Christian Resources International (CRI) is hooking up the trailer and hitting the road Oct. 3-11, asking people to donate their favorite Christian book and $1 for shipping in order to send a "Great Crate" of books to the Philippines, where record rainfalls have killed hundreds and flooded 80% of Greater Manila. Volunteers and CRI staff are setting up pit stops in Michigan and Ohio where people will meet the CRI truck to give a Christian book, $1 for shipping and a personalized note to the recipient.

Fred Palmerton, executive director of CRI says, "We've all had books touch us in a special way. Now people can both share those books, and share in notes why these books have been so important in their lives. It's a very personal gift with a personal affect."

The trailer will make the following stops on the road trip:

• Oct. 3, Home School Mom's meeting in Brighton at The Father's House

• Oct. 4, Durand, MI: Durand First Baptist Church

• Oct. 5, Owosso, MI: Covenant Eyes

• Oct. 6, Fowlerville, MI: Fowlerville Christian School

• Oct. 7, Pinckney, MI: Livingston Christian Schools

• Oct. 7, Walled Lake, MI: Walled Lake Missionary Church

• Oct. 8, Roscommon, MI: Soul Harbor Radio and Church

• Oct. 8, Mt. Pleasant, MI: Cook Christian Supply in Mt. Pleasant

• Oct. 9, Fowlerville, MI: The Thursday and Friday Morning Men's Bible Study Groups meeting at Docusen's Café

• Oct. 9, Brighton, MI: United Home School Group meeting at St. Patrick's Church -- Parish Life Building

• Oct. 11, Monclova, OH: Monclova Road Baptist Church

This road trip is the first in CRI's new Road Trip program. Several times throughout the year, CRI staff plan to take a road trip with a trailer to collect favorite Christian books and the dollar it takes to ship them overseas. "The Road Trip program allows people to be an integral part of equipping Christians around the world with much-needed Bibles and Christian books," says Palmerton. He notes that books that would be helpful in the Philippines include Bibles, commentaries, books on the Christian life, discipleship, church life, and Christian inspirational and devotional texts.
