WASHINGTON, Oct. 1 /Christian Newswire/ -- On Monday, October 1, at 9:30 AM, representatives of the groups Faith and Action and the Christian Defense Coalition will hold a prayer service in front of the US Supreme Court to mark the opening of the Court's new term.
The Reverend Rob Schenck (pronounced SHANK) president of Faith and Action, a Christian mission to elected and appointed officials and the Reverend Patrick J. Mahoney, director of the Christian Defense Coalition, will pray for each of the justices by name. A poster with the images of the nine justices will be mounted on an easel next to which the ministers will kneel.
Rev. Rob Schenck stated, "This year's prayer service is particularly important because the future of the Supreme Court hangs on the outcome of next year's presidential election. A president lasts only four or eight years, but the Court goes on for decades and its decisions can last centuries. We will pray God's will be done in the future selection of justices."
