WASHINGTON, Sept. 7 /Christian Newswire/ -- Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney says the failed polices and arrogance of Mr. Rumsfeld have put our troops at risk and increased the potential for a civil war in Iraq.
Mahoney also states America is losing confidence in the leadership of Secretary Rumsfeld which is now hindering the Administration’s war on terror.
The group continues to encourage the faith community to pray for our national leaders concerning the war in Iraq as well as praying for the Iraqi people, their leaders and our heroic sons and daughters who serve in the Armed Forces.
The Christian Defense Coalition has led prayer vigils outside the Embassy of Iraq in Washington, D.C. as well as prayed with Iraqi leaders. The Coalition is now planning to lead a prayer delegation to Iraq to seek God’s wisdom, blessing and protection for the Iraqi people and our troops.
Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, comments, “It is important for the faith community to speak out passionately concerning the war in Iraq without the trappings of political partisanship. It has now become clear that the failed policies of Secretary Rumsfeld are putting our troops at great risk. They are also increasing the likelihood of a civil war in Iraq which would be disastrous for the war on terror and the Iraqi people. Through all of this, Secretary Rumsfeld has refused to completely acknowledge the mistakes of his flawed planning which will only increase the risk of failure and more violence in the future. America is also losing confidence in his leadership which is making it more difficult for the Administration to successfully carry out its war on terror.
The Christian Defense Coalition respects the service that Mr. Rumsfeld has given to his country. We also admire his great devotion to America and those who serve in uniform. It is out of his devotion, and love of country, that we ask the Secretary to step down so a new strategy can put into place that will help end the violence and bring healing and justice to Iraq.”
