KNOXVILLE, Tenn., March 5 /Christian Newswire/ -- On a mission to "eliminate boredom in the pew and burnout in the preacher," The Sermonators Podcast has officially launched to help busy pastors everywhere. The Sermonators Podcast is a semi-monthly internet radio show that offers an entertaining mix of coaching and advice along two main areas in the life of the pastor: preaching and time management. Hosted by internationally known Christian speaker, Scott Newton Smith of Knoxville, Tennessee and Joel Southerland, Senior Pastor of Liberty Baptist Church in Dalton, Georgia, The Sermonators Podcast resides on the web at www.sermonators.com.

The Sermonators Podcast is not what you would expect in a podcast geared toward pastors. No stained glass here. The edgy and entertaining introduction quickly sends a message that pastors are going to get some helpful advice and have fun in the process.

"The Sermonators Podcast is ground breaking because there's nothing out there like it," says preaching coach and co-host, Scott Newton Smith. "In the face of an increasing ministerial fallout rate, we are providing what seminary and conferences can't – ongoing support. And we're doing it in the areas that matter most in the pastor's life and ministry, preaching and time management."

They may be just in time. The pastoral exit door seems to be growing larger than its entrance. Barna Research reports that 1500 pastors leave their assignments every month due to conflict, moral failure or burnout. Of the ones that are staying, forty percent considered leaving their positions in the past three months.

"The show really is for the guys in the trenches," states Smith. "Our message is that you can not only gain more 'punch' in your preaching; you can get your life back without quitting the ministry."

Joel Southerland, co-architect and co-host of The Sermonators says, "Our show is about giving pastors proven and practical content that they can immediately implement into their ministry. It's about streamlining ministry and avoiding the traps that so many pastors find themselves in, both in the study and in the throes of the daily grind. It's not theory; it's practice. We're aiming right where they live."

Another unique offering from The Sermonators that is among firsts in the field of pastoral ministry is two-on-one individual coaching. "It's similar to executive coaching," explains Southerland. "The forty-day coaching program is an intense exercise in results-driven training, honest feedback and personal development for pastors who want individualized help in their quest to preach better and balance their hectic ministerial life. As far as we know, it's the first program of its kind to offer such personal attention in these key areas."

Smith and Southerland work from a combined forty years of preaching and ministry experience and training. The Sermonators Podcast and Coaching Program is the result of their sensing a great need in the pastorate for quality mentoring and coaching for better preaching skills, personal peace and effective local church ministry.
