Young Nigerian Receives a Prestigious Award in the U.S.

LAS VEGAS, Mar. 14 /Christian Newswire/ -- On the evening of 22nd of January, 2007, seating right behind the legend Hollywood artiste Clint Eastwood at the glamorous Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas was Orok Duke. Orok was not just there to observe the popular Trumpet Awards night but he was actually one of the honorees for 2007. He was the youngest of all the sixteen honorees in the room. His award is tagged "Young Star."
The purpose of this award is to honor those who succeeded despite tremendous odds. Orok Duke was one of the sixteen honorees of Trumpets Award for 2007. A few of the other honorees were Michael Jordan, Clint Eastwood, Cece Winans, Tony Braxton and Donnie McClurkin.
Mr. Orok Duke is young, inspiring and talented. The 27 year old has turned his ideas into reality. He joins the "New Faces of Engineering". He was nominated by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers as one of the 2006 New Faces and included for recognition during National Engineers week.
Orok's steady rise to prominence is something to note. He was born and raised in Nigeria. His leadership ability was noticed very early in life. He was chosen as the Senior Prefect of his high School, International School Lagos. He bagged a 1st Class Honours B. Eng degree with DIS (Diploma of Industrial Studies) from Loughborough University, U.K in July 2000. He later received his masters degree from Princeton University in the United States.
While most of his work was conducted at the BP Research Center in Naperville, Illinois, Orok also provided extensive on-site technical support to manufacturing plants in Malaysia, Taiwan, South Korea, Belgium, Indonesia, and the United States. Orok was a key member of a technology team that drove the implementation of a specific wastewater process remediation at several manufacturing sites in the PTA system. Documented savings from this work is more than $10 million.
In spite of his busy schedule Orok is a devoted Christian and presently serves in the capacity of Church Administrator at his local church -- KingsWord International Church, Chicago. Recently married to Adetola, 27 year-old Orok surely poises to be a face that has come to stay in this generation.
