ROCKLIN, Calif., May 24, 2018 /Christian Newswire/ -- Rocklin Academy has given private information, emails and phone numbers, of Rocklin Academy families to the campaign committee Families & Teachers for Antonio, a political organization supporting Antonio Villaraigosa for Governor, and funded by liberal billionaire, Michael Bloomberg.

"For a school that goes to extreme lengths to protect the privacy of students and their families, it's unacceptable that Rocklin Academy and the CCSA is using our personal emails and phone numbers to ask us to support a political candidate, especially one who does not share the values of many in our community," says one Rocklin Academy mom. "Room moms were not even allowed to send direct emails to parents about class parties or baby showers for teachers, but we can be solicited for a political campaign? Once again, all parents are not being respected."

Rocklin Academy's own handbook states:

Student and family contact information (telephone number, address, and email) will not be released. To protect the privacy of Rocklin Academy families, all emails must be sent from the teacher, official PSP (Parent School Partnership) representative, or the office. Any communication sent must be related to official school business and approved by the school.

Rocklin Academy has clearly arrogantly violated their own policy.

Some of the emails from the campaign committee to Rocklin Academy Charter School parents include lines such as:

"Like you, Antonio Villaraigosa has a personal connection to California public schools."

"As a charter public school supporter, Antonio Villaraigosa is the ONLY candidate for Governor that shares your support for charter schools."

The California Charter School Association is leading charter schools into becoming progressive activist groups, a great disappointment to charter parents and supporters everywhere.

"Rocklin Academy has illegally shared parents' emails and phone numbers with Families and Teachers for Antonio, and they now need to explain to the parents what other campaign and political activities they are sharing private information with," says Karen England, Executive Director of Capitol Resource Institute.

Rocklin Academy has proven over and over that progressive political activism is far more important than the education of children, respect for parental rights, or privacy.  They are using their charter school more like a liberal campaign office than a place of learning.
