MARYKNOLL, N.Y., Aug. 28, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- With several years of worldwide economic distress and high unemployment, many workers are questioning their commitments to careers and their loyalty to employers. Many others, however, continue to search for work that they love and to explore opportunities to bring love to their jobs. "Loving Work," published by Orbis Books, the book division of the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, is Mike Hayes's story about his own search and what he found.
Mr. Hayes left a promising career in sports broadcasting in New York to discover God's intention for him. In sharing his journey, he takes readers into career questions that have spiritual answers. He asks "Who am I -- really?" and "What am I here for?" He also asks "How do I find the work I can do best?" and "Can I find happiness in my work, or is it my job to bring happiness to work?"
"Loving Work" describes the author's passage to a better working place and offers a spiritual roadmap for anyone at any age who wants to love their work.
Mr. Hayes is the co-founder of "Busted Halo," a national ministry and media network for young adults. He is the campus minister at St. Joseph University parish and SUNY Buffalo's South Campus. He also is a retreat director for Charis Ministries, a Jesuit ministry for adults in their 20s and 30s.
