FT. LAUDERDALE, Florida, Nov. 30 /Christian Newswire/ -- According to Associated Press, a judge found a British teacher, Gillian Gibbons, guilty of inciting religious hatred for letting her elementary age pupils name a teddy bear Muhammad. He sentenced her to "15 days jail and deportation," said Ali Mohammed Hajab, a member of her defense team.
"More than 3 billion dollars in US Aid went to Sudan since 2005. If this kind of injustice and anti-Christian bigotry and hostility does not stop we will urge an end to US Aid," says Rev. Gary Cass, Chairman and CEO of the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission.
"In Sudan, a country known for its genocide against Christians, an innocent act by Muslim school children must be result in the punishment of a Christian. Hundreds of thousands of Christians are murdered by Arab militias in the name of Islam across the Sudan, and no one has been punished. A class of children innocently misnames a Teddy Bear and now an example must be made of someone, especially a Christian someone."
"The Judge may think by not flogging Ms. Gibbons with forty lashes, as Sharia law allows, he is being generous, but this act by a Muslim judge has done more to incite religious hatred against Islam than anything this teacher may have done," said Dr. Cass.
The Christian Anti-Defamation Commission is a non-profit organization devoted to protecting the rights of Christians to confidently live their faith.
