MEDIA ADVISORY, November 2 /Christian Newswire/ -- At a breakfast meeting Thursday at the National Press Club, Senator Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) said, "The greatest moral issue of our time isn't abortion, it's robbing our next generation of opportunity...You're going to save a child from being aborted so they can be born into a debtor's prison?" This new morality will come as a shock for most in Jesusland, according to David Jeffers, author of Understanding Evangelicals: A Guide to Jesusland. "Evangelicals are going to have a hard time seeing the horror of allowing an unborn baby to live in a world with a large debt," Jeffers said.

"While Senator Coburn is in step with evangelicals on fiscal responsibility, it is hard to imagine any protector of life finding any good excuse not "to save a child from being aborted," said Jeffers. Jeffers believes the over 40 million babies who have been killed since Roe v. Wade would much more prefer living in a debtor's prison than being aborted.

Jeffers stated: "I am sure when Senator Coburn takes a close look at the foolishness of his statement he will immediately retract it and issue an apology...Jesusland awaits, Senator!" Jeffers reminds the Senator of Proverbs 15:2, "The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, but the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness." Jeffers admits to making foolish comments in the past but he knows from experience that the longer the comment is left out there, the harder it will be to retract.

Jesusland has a great friend in Senator Coburn and it looks forward to its friend setting the record straight.
