Christian Newswire/ -- Can you imagine being pushed out of your community once a month because you cannot afford feminine hygiene products?
From prisons to mental institutions to the average household, The Dignity Project is changing women's lives in Africa every day. For a large number of women who live in poverty, The Dignity Project offers them a solution to a problem that most American women don't face.
"Many women struggle through embarrassing challenges during their monthly menstruation," Jade stated. "Here in Uganda, disposable sanitary pads are simply not affordable for a lot of women. The alternative is not good: old pieces of clothing. This causes many young girls not to attend school, and women in nearby villages are forced to go into the bush during their menstruation. These women have been stripped of their dignity during their monthly menstruation. They shoulder fear, worry, and shame, and some are even outcast."
During a recent distribution of washable feminine products in Kasase, Uganda, 11 women at a prison gave their lives to Christ. God used The Dignity Project to reach those who may have not been reached otherwise. Their hearts were set free because God used His people who were willing to make a difference and speak from their hearts.
When asked about the future of The Dignity Project Jade answered, "In late June we will be going on furlough in America, and I am so excited to take this opportunity to engage our partners in America who make these reusable pads. I look forward to going to their sewing parties in churches, nursing homes, and their personal homes. Here in Uganda, we have three groups of women also making our Dignity Projects pads."
You can make a difference by simply sewing from your own home. To donate or get involved send an email to
