According to research on children exiting the system by DCFS, eighty percent exit the system without a high school diploma. Most of these teenagers end up on the streets; some become prostitutes, and/or they become hooked on drugs, get involved in stealing and end up in jail.
CCAAFP.ORG will give these teenagers a place to live even after age eighteen. They will also receive clinical support, spiritual guidance and basic skills of life to be independent in the future.
"For over fifteen years, I have worked with many children who were abused and neglected and saw their desperation when they approach age seventeen. This is when reality kicks in for them that they will be exiting the system, without any family and not even close to graduating from high school. Being a foster parent myself, I had one girl who lived with me for a while and was moved to another place. She called me this week and reported that she is pregnant, no place to live, and she will thrust out of the system when she turns eighteen in September. She is also due that same month." -- Betty Odak, Founder/President, CCAAFP
CCAAFP.ORG is working very closely with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) as well as the Probation Department to keep these children from the street. Support and prayers are highly treasured.
CCAAFP.ORG's main goal is to reach out to abused and neglected children who are about to exit the system.
CCAAFP.ORG is in need of financial support to make this a reality and keep at least one teenager from the street.
