MEDIA ADVISORY, Aug. 19 /Christian Newswire/ -- In the divine economy, life can only spring out of death (Isa. 37:31; Jn. 12:24; 2 Cor. 4:10-12).
In His Word, our LORD tells us that we are fools if we think that He who is "the resurrection and the life" is going to raise up any person who is still alive under his own power (Jn. 11:25; James 4:10). "Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die." 1 Corinthians 15:36
The Son of God said "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit." (Jn. 12:24) Fruitfulness in God's kingdom only comes out of death -- dying to self-will, freely and unreservedly handing it over to the LORD.
Recently, while speaking to friends, I asked them this: "When is the last time you sat down with another Christian or counselor and that person told you that you must die -- die to self and therefore sin, so Jesus can reign in your life and grant the full victory?" At the hearing of this question posed, each and every one of these Christian people looked at me with nothing to say and yet know this was the truth. They were taken back or temporarily stunned and acknowledged that they had never heard such words, which is tragic. To die that He might live and reign is the Gospel of Jesus in our daily life and a divine command. See Col. 3:3; Rom. 6. God will not raise me up in His holy power until I obey Him in laying down my life and to think He will makes me a "fool." (1 Cor. 15:36)
Of the last days, Jesus promised definitively that "iniquity shall abound." A cross-less so-called Christianity underlies the lack of true kingdom fruitfulness that reflects the early New Testament believers. This gospel that is not centered on the cross, is the reason for the epidemic of sin we now see among those who claim to know and be serving Jesus Christ, and is being peddled by those who are "the enemies of the cross of Christ." (Phil. 3:18-19)
