Station First to Carry Original Program in 1970

www.hourofpower.org) Christian television program, now hosted by the Rev. Bobby Schuller, announced today it will be back on the air on KTLA in Los Angeles.

The "Hour of Power" will begin airing on KTLA Channel 5 in the Los Angeles area on Sunday, Jan. 4, at 10 a.m. local time. KTLA not only reaches a large audience in Southern California, but the "superstation" is carried in more than four million homes in the United States.
KTLA was the first station to air the "Hour of Power," back in 1970. The new "Hour of Power with Bobby Schuller" launched Oct. 5.
"It will be great to be back on KTLA," said Schuller. "Southern California is our home, and it is fitting that KTLA be the cornerstone of the 'Hour of Power' broadcast. We're excited to see more stations carry the program and are eager to reach a growing audience with the gospel of Jesus Christ."
The church and television ministry, founded by Schuller's grandfather, the Rev. Robert H. Schuller, began as the Garden Grove Community Church at the Orange Drive-in Theatre in 1955, soon adding a 300-seat chapel four miles away. It later expanded to the larger campus. The "Hour of Power" aired in all 50 states by 1975. The program eventually became the most-watched religious program in the world, reaching 17 million viewers.
In addition to KTLA in Los Angeles, "Hour of Power with Bobby Schuller" can be seen in the U.S. on TBN, The Church Channel, Oxygen and local ION Television in Tampa/St. Petersburg, Phoenix, Grand Rapids and Los Angeles.
Supported by a network of 11 Hour of Power local offices around the world, the full hour airs internationally in Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, New Zealand, Pearl River Delta/China Mainland, the Republic of Ireland, Russia, South Africa and other African countries, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
