OVERLAND PARK, Kans., Feb. 25 /Christian Newswire/ -- Hschooler.net has launched the first social network that meets the unique desires of Christian parents while providing a fun and safe environment for Christian kids. This new online social network is available at http://hschooler.net. Individual accounts are free on Hschooler.net. By upgrading to a family account, members are able to use all of the available tools and parents are able to control their kids' access to the site.
Hschooler.net uniquely addresses parents' concerns with safety and content.
Hschooler.net allows parents to direct what their children can use on the site. Parents can manage the content their kids can access and create. Parents can also choose to approve friend requests, or can give their children that freedom, and can control which friends can see which of their kids' content. There are no graphical or pop up ads on the site. Simple and relevant text ads appear only on the parent pages.
"I have found that many parents are hesitant to let their children join a social network because of the potential exposure to people the parents don't know," Russ McGuire, founder of Hschooler.net shares. "While other sites have marketed to Christian families, we have created the first social network designed from the ground up to empower parents to set boundaries that are appropriate given each child's maturity."
Hschooler.net enables kids to stay connected with friends.
Kids can use groups, status updates, in-network e-mail and other features to stay connected with their friends. Using Hschooler.net, Christian kids can socialize with trusted friends that share their faith and values, even if they live on the other side of town or the other side of the world.
"As a pastor, I can see the value of kids staying connected online in an environment where their parents are also directly connected and engaged," says Pastor Jon Dunning, Associate Pastor of Youth and Family Ministries at Oak Hills Presbyterian Church. "Hschooler.net is the best social site I have seen that addresses this safety issue."
Hschooler.net is operated by homeschoolers.
Three homeschooled students run Hschooler.net under the direction of Mr. McGuire. Austin Jacobson is a freshman in high school who is head of marketing. Brian Jacobson, an 8th grader, heads up product development. Kevin McGuire, also an 8th grader, heads up revenue generation.
"I think it's great for these homeschool students to be learning to run a business with integrity," said Rick Boxx, President and Founder of Integrity Resource Center.
