BIRMINGHAM, Ala., April 24, 2019 /Christian Newswire/ -- On Saturday, April 27th, at 9:00 a.m., organizers of the #WeSayNo City-Wide Prayer Vigil are expecting hundreds to gather in front of Planned Parenthood Southeast's construction site for a new abortion center. Located at 1019 1st Ave N, PPSE began construction last year, despite their current facility (1211 27th Pl S) being unable to perform abortions for nearly two years.

"Planned Parenthood is a failing business," says Sarah Howell, organizer for the event. "They seem unable to attract a doctor, and their facility is so outdated that building a new one is their only option to survive."

An initial vigil was held at the property last summer, drawing around 200 citizens. On April 27th, the crowd is expected to be twice that number. Local pastors will lead citizens in prayer, along with national pro-life leaders, state legislators, and well-known pro-life advocates in Birmingham.

Bishop Demetrics Roscoe of Living Church Ministries, comments, "As an African-American pastor, I stand with the doctrine of grace for repented hearts. Equally important, God places great value on the life of the unborn. He has a purpose and a destiny for each child."

Fr. Terry Gensemer, Director of CEC For Life, says, "We have been amazed by the response to this event. People of every denomination are joining together, energized and recognizing the importance of standing against Planned Parenthood Southeast's attempt to expand its influence in Alabama. Our citizens don't want abortion."

This was evident last November, when Amendment 2 successfully passed despite PPSE spending $1.4 million to stop it. The Alabama Human Life Protection Act was also introduced this month, protecting human life from conception. It passed through committee and is headed to the House.

Alabama Representative Matt Fridy comments, "Alabama is a pro-life state. We will continue working towards protection for every life at every stage, including the preborn. This weekend, I'm proud to stand with friends from around this state and support the life of preborn children."

Another prayer leader, Pastor Chris Peters of Cross Creek Church, comments, "During the civil rights era, Birmingham sadly became known for denying the precious image of God in all ethnicities. We are gathering to pray and work so that the image of God, at all stages of human life, will be honored in our own time, so that God would be glorified and Birmingham known to future generations as a beacon for the sanctity of life."
