MEDIA ADVISORY, Oct. 26 /Christian Newswire/ -- Athanatos Christian Ministries is not your ordinary apologetics ministry. While still defending the faith in traditional ways, they believe that the culture- not argument- is one of the main reasons why people fall away from the faith. Their solution: defend the faith by encouraging Christian writers, film makers, and artists to deliberately infuse their Christian worldview into their work.
ACM's second annual conference focuses on film, movies, and video and calls on artists to come to the defense of Biblical marriage and Christianity in general.
Along with the conference, ACM is hosting a short film contest with almost $2,000 in cash awards.
The conference aims to bring together theologians, apologists, culture warriors, and artists in common recognition of the impact that culture has on shaping the beliefs and attitudes of Americans, including those in the Church. The conference does not call for Christians to isolate themselves from the culture but to actively engage it by working to make sure that Christians are competing in the 'marketplace of ideas' in whatever vocation they happen to be in.
"We are not looking for Christians to engage in propaganda," Horvath insists. "We merely want Christians to know what they believe and why they believe it and then unashamedly allow their faith to express itself in all they do. Our conference is singling out movie makers and writers, but our challenge is directed to everyone."
Horvath explains that the conference's film contest doesn't even require explicitly Christian story lines or content. "We trust that informed and skilled Christian artists will know how to create stories that manifest their worldview and we look forward to encouraging the best ones with big fat checks," Horvath says.
The winning videos are selected by votes from those attending the conference, the public at large, and by the conference speakers and sponsors. The contest is accepting entries now and the deadline is the beginning of the conference which is April 8th, 2010. The conference itself is also accepting registrations now, too.
Keynoting the conference is Dr. Gene Edward Veith, Jr.. Other speakers include Dallas Jenkins, producer and director of recent films such as "What If" and "Though None Go With Me."
