LOS ANGELES, Nov. 28 /Christian Newswire/ -- Quirky and quaint, yet steeped in genuine tradition, Noëlle is a gift-wrapped family drama, complete with all the trimmings, and set to open at theaters nationwide on December 7th.
Noëlle is the story of one man's guilt, and his mysterious path to forgiveness. It is a tale of hope that leads to one of the most surprising second chances in movie history...not just for one man, but for everyone in his world.
"Forgiveness is a key theme in the film," says Noëlle's writer and director, David Wall. According to Wall, Noëlle also has a subtle, but powerful, pro-life theme that is sure to deeply touch audiences.
"The pro-life message is there," says Wall. "But you need to see the movie – get caught up in the story itself – and actually experience the way the story plays out. Words cannot describe it. You really have to see it to understand how powerful it is."
And, just like the pro-life hit film Bella, Noëlle highlights the crucial, irreversible moments in our lives; Noëlle brings to the forefront the fact that how we choose to face these vital moments can irrevocably alter the course of many lives...forever.
As for the movie's storyline, Father Jonathan Keene, played by Wall, visits a small New England town to shut down a struggling Catholic church. But shortly after his arrival, Father Keene gets caught up with the town's colorful mêlée of characters.
"I wanted to show the power of community," says Wall, "to focus less on the church per se and more on what the church is made up of – people. I wanted Noëlle to reflect my own vision of Heaven."
The making of Noëlle certainly received its share of heavenly nods and winks. The journey to get the film to the screen is its own incredible tale, complete with a Santa's sackful of miracles.
After knocking on hundreds of doors trying to interest investors, Wall realized that if others were going to believe in Noëlle as much as he did, he'd have to put his money where is faith was; he and his wife Kerry decided to sell their modest Cape Cod home to fund the making of Noëlle.
"When folks saw how committed we were willing to be," says Wall, "suddenly they were willing to take that huge leap of faith right along with us."
In fact, the first outside investors came from their own Cape Cod neighborhood where the Walls lived with their four children.
"People would walk up to me while I was working in the garden," says Kerry Wall, actor, co-producer, and David Wall's wife. "They'd say, 'if I want to donate to your movie, who should I make the check out to?' It was amazing!"
One of the miracles bestowed upon the film from above came in the form of snow. Without it, the setting for Noëlle would have been grim and depressing. Originally scheduled to shoot in January, production was pushed back...a blessing in disguise since Cape Cod received not a single snowflake in January.
But during February and March, the village set a fifty-year record for snowfall...resulting in Noëlle's breathtaking winter-scapes.
In autumn 2007, the movie was still without representation. But at the Ft. Lauderdale International Film Festival, Noëlle received both a thunderous standing ovation and the jury award for Best Director. Gener8Xion Entertainment's Matt Crouch – who raved about the moved – signed Wall's film.
The Walls sacrificed everything to bring Noëlle to audiences. Their faith brought together an entire community and dazzled everyone involved with an assortment of timely miracles. Noëlle is a celebration of life, community, and second chances.
"I don't believe there's ever been a movie that highlights issues such as forgiveness, redemption – and even like Christmas – so vividly, so believably," says Wall. "This isn't sappy, traditional stuff. Yes, there's magic...but it's the real kind of magic...the kind that makes the hair on your arms stand up. I can't wait for folks to see it!"
