LOS ANGELES, April 7 /Christian Newswire/ -- Twenty-year-old UCLA senior Alvaro Day will kick off his campaign for State Assembly this Friday in Pasadena, CA at the Historic Green Hotel-Romanesque Room. The event runs from 7 to 9 PM this Friday, April 9th. Alvaro Day is the GOP candidate for California's 44th Assembly District.

Alvaro is part of the rising generation of young people who aspire to lead this country on principles of integrity, personal responsibility, and hard work. He was born in Lima, Peru during times of prevailing instability and social unrest. "Through these circumstances, I learned the importance of individual liberty and responsibility," says Day. "People need both to reach their full potential."

As California faces dire economic conditions, out-of-control spending, a catastrophic budget crisis, and high unemployment, Alvaro has developed a platform that includes cutting taxes to encourage entrepreneurship and job creation, balancing the budget, and fixing our schools. Though only 20 years old, Alvaro is graduating from UCLA this June with two Bachelor degrees in Political Science and US History.

Su is Korean American. At 26 years old, he may be the youngest minority to ever run for Congress under the GOP banner. David was born in YoungSan, a US Army base in South Korea where his father was stationed. David came to America when he was a few months old and was raised by his grandparents while both his parents worked to support the family. Here, his grandfather reminded him of why Korea went to war, sharing their homeland's testimony that bigger government is never the solution and that liberty is an absolute right for every individual. David believes it is time for new leadership, to end Congressional corruption, stay true to conservative principles, and listen to the American people.

David Su at age 26 and Alvaro Day at age 20 will be the among the youngest candidates in the GOP to run for public office this June and November. Their candidacies mark a historic moment as the GOP builds youth and minority support in California.
