FRONT ROYAL, Va., Feb. 3, 2012 /
Christian Newswire/ -- "The Susan G. Komen Foundation has caved in to the demands of radical abortion apologists," said Douglas R. Scott, Jr., president of Life Decisions International (LDI), a Planned Parenthood watchdog group. Scott was speaking about the recently announced statement by The Susan G. Komen Foundation reversing its decision to end support of the world's most vociferous pro-abortion goliath.
"If Komen officials did not expect to face the wrath of Planned Parenthood and its media allies they were extremely naïve," said Scott. "We have urged Komen to refrain from telling Planned Parenthood of its decision because we knew from experience how the abortion-committing enterprise would respond."
In 1989, AT&T announced it would end 25 years of continuous support of Planned Parenthood. As a "thank you" for past grants, Planned Parenthood paid for full-page ads in major newspapers and magazines that viciously attacked the company. "AT&T held firm," Scott said. "They didn't appreciate being treated in such a way by a 'friend.' Komen, on the other hand, has either engaged in a nasty ruse, ala the Dayton Hudson Corporation (now Target Corporation) in the early 1990s, and never really intended to stop giving to Planned Parenthood (was just seeking publicity), or it is led by the most naïve people on earth. Given Nancy Brinker's personal ties to Planned Parenthood, I would certainly not rule out the former."
"Yesterday, we issued a press release stating we would hold off removing Komen from our Boycott List," Scott continued. "We are now happy we made that decision."
"The reasons Komen gave for ending support of Planned Parenthood were valid and the decision was wise. Do those reasons no longer exist or does wisdom no longer exist?"
"There are three groups responsible for this disastrous decision," Scott said. "The first is the ruthless and deadly Planned Parenthood, which seems to think Komen owes it money and if Komen ever decides to stop giving to Planned Parenthood there will be hell to pay. The mafia would be proud. The second is the pro-abortion media, which acts as Planned Parenthood's 'muscle.' Reports in the media were riddled with half-truths and failed to thoroughly examine the implications of what Planned Parenthood was doing. The third, of course, is the weak-kneed Komen leadership."
"Stay tuned," Scott said. "This is not over."
