MEDIA ADVISORY, Dec. 18 /Christian Newswire/ -- “It becomes more evident each day how complex the historical and ecclesiastical predicament is in which we are living. It cannot be defined exhaustibly by the simple categories of conflict between ethnicities, cultures and religions. Together we need to find other dimensions for understanding the expectation which underlies this new mixing of peoples to which the Author of history seems to be calling humanity. If we may be permitted a bold metaphor, we should speak of the inevitable process of a sort of "crossbreeding of civilizations" so that the meeting is not transformed inevitably into conflict.” – H.E. Angelo Cardinal Scola, Patriarch of Venice
On the occasion of the presentation of Oasis, the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the UN and the Oasis Center present the panel discussion PEOPLES AND RELIGIONS. Oasis is the biannual journal of the Oasis International Studies and Research Center (www.cisro.org). It is promoted by Angelo Cardinal Scola (Venice), Philippe Cardinal Barbarin (Lyons), Josip Cardinal Bozanic (Zagreb), Peter Cardinal Erdö (Budapest), Christoph Cardinal Schönborn (Vienna), and by many bishops and exponents of the ecclesial and academic world. An international network of relationships with Christian, Muslim and Jewish personalities is an integral part of the life of Oasis. The review is published in four separate bilingual editions (English-Arabic, English-Urdu, French-Arabic, Italian-Arabic).
