NORCROSS, Ga., Jan. 22, 2015 /Christian Newswire/ -- Thousands of pro-life supporters are expected to take part today in the annual March for Life in downtown Atlanta.

The event, sponsored by Georgia Right to Life (GRTL), will begin at 11 a.m. at the new Liberty Plaza—across from the State Capitol—with prayer and a worship service.

State Public Service Commissioner Tim Echols will serve as guest emcee. The keynote address will be given by award-winning filmmaker Molotov Mitchell.

Mitchell and his wife Patricia have spent 10 years traveling the world working on hundreds of projects that reach millions.

The event will also feature Bound 4 Life, a ministry whose members silently stand in prayer before court houses and abortion clinics nationwide wearing "LIFE" tape across their mouths.

A one-mile silent march through downtown Atlanta.

Governor Nathan Deal has issued a proclamation declaring January 22nd "Respect for Human Life Day in Georgia."

Following the march, participants will have the opportunity to meet with state legislators to discuss pro-life issues, including the need to adopt a "Personhood" amendment to the state constitution to ensure that all innocent life in Georgia is protected.

"Abortion on demand has been legal for 42 years," explained GRTL Executive Director Genevieve Wilson. "During that time, nearly 57 million innocent children have had their lives ended in the most painful, brutal of ways."

Wilson stressed, however, that respect for innocent human life goes far beyond efforts to end abortion.

"We're also deeply concerned about other life-threatening issues, such as euthanasia, assisted suicide and numerous emerging technologies that distort and destroy human life," Wilson added.

Georgia Right to Life promotes respect and effective legal protection for all innocent human life from earliest biological beginning through natural death. GRTL is one of a number of organizations that have adopted Personhood as the most effective pro-life strategy for the 21st century.
