No Room for the Abhorrent Hatred and Insensitivity Portrayed by Sterling

Contact: Kevin McGary, 415-326-3733

SAN FRANCISCO, April 30, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Frederick Douglass Foundation of California emphatically protest the notably racist comments attributed to Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald T. Sterling. We are very pleased with the immediate and decisive actions by the National Basketball Association (NBA) to repudiate, fine, and banish Sterling. All Americans know, whether in sports or in the greater society, there is no room in our great country for the abhorrent hatred and insensitivity portrayed by Sterling.

Kevin McGary, Chairman and President of the Frederick Douglass Foundation of California also takes this opportunity to echo the words of Frederick Douglass who in his Monday, July 5th, 1852 speech entitled: "The Meaning of July Fourth for the Negro," said:

"Put away your race prejudice. Banish the idea that one class must rule over another. Recognize the fact that the rights of the humblest citizen are as worthy of protection as are those of the highest, and your problem will be solved."
