BROOKLYN, NY, Feb. 13 /Christian Newswire/ -- Acclaimed kosher diva Susie Fishbein, author of the Kosher by Design cookbook series is releasing her fifth project – Passover by Design (ArtScroll Shaar Press, February 2008; $29.99/Hardcover, 276pp; ISBN: 1578190738). With over a quarter of a million books sold, Kosher by Design has become the most popular kosher cookbook series in print today. Passover by Design follows suit with Fishbein's signature style of combining gorgeous food and décor photos together with 172 chic recipes that shimmer with simple elegance.
Emerging from virtual obscurity, Fishbein achieved national recognition with the 2003 release of her original cookbook, Kosher by Design. She has been the official spokesperson for Manischewitz Foods, a presenter at the International Food Show at Epcot Center, and she was just selected by Dannon Yogurt to develop a special set of kosher for Passover dairy recipes this year. She has appeared on numerous radio and television shows, including the Today Show, Martha Stewart Radio, Living It Up with Ally and Jack, Fox and Friends, Good Day New York, Good Day Atlanta, America's Dining & Travel Show and more. A self-proclaimed everyday cook, Fishbein's sell-out lectures and culinary demonstrations are booked deep into 2009. Fishbein notes, "While I really am just like everyone else, I believe these cookbooks have turned the notion of 'kosher' into classy."
Passover by Design is a hybrid project, featuring over 130 recipes from her series that have been completely reformulated and retested to comply with Jewish dietary standards for Passover observance. (During the holiday week, traditional Jews assiduously avoid consuming any form of food products containing yeast or leaven. Some extend that stricture to cosmetics as well.) Fishbein, in tandem with kosher catering star Moshe David, also created a number of brand-new recipes that introduce a modern, cosmopolitan flair to the time-honored Passover meal. Because 130 of the recipes are gluten-free, About.com's Guide for Celiac Disease, Nancy Lapid, has endorsed the book as a welcome year-round resource for anyone who is gluten-intolerant.
Pre-release demand for Passover by Design is building. Just last week the book ranked 350 in sales on Amazon.com, though it won't be available in bookstores until February 28.
