Catholic Website Draws Children Closer to Patron Saints of Medical Issues
Contact: Agatha Connelly, 603-320-1472, info@MyFriendsTheSaints.com

NASHUA, N.H., May 8, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- The new website www.MyFriendsTheSaints.com encourages children to look to Jesus for help during medical challenges. The site provides resources about the saints for beginning readers, including books, prayer cards, and activity sheets. Bright colors and engaging formats characterize the site.

Agatha Connelly, a practicing Catholic, started the site to give her own children role models during times of illness.

Says Connelly, "Children need models of strength and comfort when they feel sick or uncomfortable. Teaching children about the saints and blesseds eases their fears during medical challenges by introducing them to holy men, women, and children who experienced similar struggles and drew closer to Jesus during that time."

Connelly originally wrote the stories offered by the site for her own children. As she states, "When my son was in kindergarten, I looked for easy reader books about the saints. I could not find books that had both colorful pictures and language for the beginning reader. I first started to write stories for my three young children. They enjoyed them and encouraged me to publish them."

Using the penname "Mary Lagneau" provided a meaningful purpose for Connelly. "I wrote the books during my family's struggle with chronic autoimmune diseases. I wanted to say "thank you" to Jesus for inspiring the stories during a difficult time. The name honors the Blessed Mother, Mary, and Jesus as "Lagneau," or lamb of God.

Two books and accompanying prayer cards are currently available: Blessed Jacinta Patron for Children With Tummy Troubles and Saint Bernadette Patron for Children With Asthma. The third book, Saint Blaise Patron for Children With Sore Throats, will be available this summer.
