NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 25 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Woman's New Life Center, a faith-based pregnancy resource center ravaged by Hurricane Katrina, is re-opening on October 2, 2006 in a suburb of New Orleans. The new address is 3017 North Causeway, Suite 100, Metairie, LA 70002.
The Woman's New Life Center is a life-affirming counseling and medical clinic. The center first opened in October 2001 around the corner from a New Orleans abortion clinic. Services include professional counseling for women and their families experiencing a crisis pregnancy, complimentary pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, post-abortion counseling and post-abortion retreats. Services also included case management, referrals and material assistance for pregnant women. The Center is a Medicaid provider and will offer pre-natal and family medical care in early 2007. The entire staff are trained adoption facilitators. Over a four-year period, 200 unborn babies and their mothers were saved from abortion. 11 children were place for adoption.
On August 28-29th, Hurricane Katrina and levee breaches around the city of New Orleans caused great devastation to the city. The Woman’s New Life Center received five feet of water that stayed in the office for two weeks. Roof damage allowed water into the back part of the office (see www.womansnewlife.com for pictures).
The new space affords the Center the opportunity of being located on a major thoroughfare and across from a major shopping mall. Most important, the new office is located near the Causeway Medical Clinic, the largest abortion clinic in the state of Louisiana. Women travel from Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, and other parts of Louisiana to obtain abortions at this clinic. The location on North Causeway is good news for pregnant women in crisis, as it affords these women a chance to receive professional, life-affirming care and alternatives to abortion.
