Jesusland Author is not Going Anywhere

Contact: David Jeffers, 850-565-0993

MEDIA ADVISORY, Nov. 7 /Christian Newswire/ -- David Jeffers, author of "Understanding Evangelicals: A Guide to Jesusland", has written what he describes as "the first shot across the bow" primarily at the Republican Party, but he also has others in his sights.

Jeffers' newest article on the New Media Journal titled "It's My Party" is the Jesusland author's proposal for a conservative resurgence in the Republican Party such was experienced in the Southern Baptist Convention twenty years ago.

Jeffers says that many moderates within the party have resented conservatives in general and evangelicals in particular. And speaking of evangelicals, Jeffers disputes the claims that Jesusland is shrinking and no longer effective. "The exit polls dispute these assertions and although President-elect Obama received five percent more of the evangelical vote than John Kerry did in 2004, some who claim to be evangelical are stretching the definition."

Jeffers says that he first wrote his book "Understanding Evangelicals: A Guide to Jesusland" in 2006 to try to help Americans understand what "traditional" evangelicalism is and how it affects voting patterns. "I thought God would use my book to help effect the 2006 and 2008 election. Perhaps in His providence God wants to use it today to clear up the confusion of who is an evangelical." Jeffers encourages those interested in studying the evangelical voter to use his book as a primer to understand the foundations that drive traditional evangelicals.

David Jeffers is the author of Understanding Evangelicals: A Guide to Jesusland and his blog is Salt and Light. He is a Magna Cum Laude of Liberty University with a degree in Biblical Studies and Cum Laude from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary where he received his Master of Arts degree in Theological Studies. Mr. Jeffers frequently comments on the Evangelical perspective of current affairs in the media. He has published numerous articles on The New Media Journal and appears regularly on The Right Balance with Greg Allen.
