Life Decisions International Challenges Chevron Support of Planned Parenthood
Contact: Tom Strobhar, Chairman, Life Decision International, 937-306-1402, chairman@fightpp.org

SAN RAMON, Calif., Dec.2, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- Many corporations routinely list the recipients of their charitable generosity. Not Chevron, one of the largest corporations in the world, which refused to honor the request of one lone voice.

Tom Strobhar, Chairman of Life Decision International (LDI) feels the reason could be that Chevron is giving $26,000 to Planned Parenthood, America's largest abortion provider. So, following in the footsteps of a courageous Chicago school teacher, Strobhar filed a shareholder resolution, asking the corporation headquartered in San Ramon, CA, to list on its website the beneficiaries of its charitable contributions.

"This lady, who regularly pickets at an abortion clinic, decided last year to take her pro-life passion one step further by filing a shareholder resolution," Strobhar said of the teacher who wishes to remain anonymous. "When Chevron defended its contribution, claiming it was legal and, therefore, something they couldn't discriminate against, she took action."

The teacher filed a shareholder resolution, which Chevron sought to block. "The company did everything it could to try to dissuade this brave teacher," said Strobhar, who is credited with the first shareholder resolutions against child pornography, religious bigotry, fetal tissue research, abortifacient drugs and domestic partner benefits. "However, she insisted her resolution be put before all shareholders, and that she be given time to speak to the Board of Directors at the annual meeting."

The teacher did not get enough votes to pass the resolution. "Still, the number of votes she did receive allowed her to bring back the resolution this year," Strobhar said. "But she was convinced the best course of action was to sell her shares rather than promote the evil agenda of Planned Parenthood."

Strobhar, having witnessed the positive impact similar resolutions have had in the past, submitted the same resolution in her place.

For initially filing the resolution, Strobhar said "our hats are off" to the teacher: "It's examples of bravery and persistence like hers that sustains us at Life Decisions International."
