MEDIA ADVISORY, Oct. 5 /Christian Newswire/ -- Steve Amerson, well-known Inspirational music artist, will be receiving the "Bob Hope Award for Excellence in Entertainment" at the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation Patriot Award Gala in Dallas, Texas on October 10, 2009. This award recognizes distinguished Americans who have made notable contributions to our nation and the values we hold dear through their life's work in the entertainment industry. Past recipients of this award include Gary Sinise, Clint Eastwood, Wayne Newton, and Jon Voight. At the October 10 gala, Congressman Sam Johnson of Texas will be receiving the Patriot's Award and Bill O'Reilly of the O'Reilly Factor will also be honored.

Approximately half of the 95 living Medal of Honor recipients will be in attendance. The esteemed honorees come from nearly every state, representing all races, social classes, and educational and economic strata. They are emblematic of America's ideals of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism.

The Medal of Honor is our nation's the highest military decoration. It is awarded by Congress and usually presented by the President in a White House ceremony. The Medal of Honor is awarded to a person who, while a member of the Armed Services, distinguishes himself conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty.

In addition to being honored, Steve Amerson will be singing six musical selections including "Blades Grass and Pure White Stones," a moving tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. This song was composed by Senator Orrin Hatch, Lowell Alexander and Phil Naish. Over the past four years Steve has sung at virtually all of the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation events throughout the country.

In addition to his work with the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation, Steve has performed at numerous events honoring the military and he will return to Dallas on October 25th for the American Airlines "Sky Ball" Gala, which supports the families of slain military.
