Christians Engaged conference Sept. 27-28 targets 'reluctant voters'

DALLAS, Sept. 27, 2024 /Christian Newswire/ -- A gathering of Christian ministry and political leaders in the Dallas area, Sept. 27-28, aims to persuade evangelicals and socially conservative "reluctant voters" — those wavering on the edge of not voting in the Presidential election — to cast a ballot.

"Jesus is not on the ballot so we have to choose between imperfect candidates," said Bunni Pounds, founder and president of Christians Engaged.
 
The Dallas-based nonprofit organization has joined with Family Policy Alliance Foundation to encourage social conservatives to get out and vote. They are working together toward reaching one million Christians by Nov. 5.

"Our communities are frustrated by policies that contradict biblical values," she said, "yet many feel disempowered and disconnected."

According to a recent Barna survey conducted by Arizona Christian University, nearly one-third of U.S. evangelicals do not vote in elections. "This means millions of Christians could be missing from the 2024 election unless we turn this around," Pounds said.

Craig DeRoche, CEO of Family Policy Alliance Foundation, said the goal of the conference was to "instill a legacy of biblical values and responsible voting habits in both current and future generations."
