JACKSONVILLE, July 26 /Christian Newswire/ -- Members of the Duval County Republican Committee expressed dismay today at word that Governor Jeb Bush is set to endorse liberal Senator Jim King.
“I am a big supporter of Governor Bush. I have been with him in every one of his campaigns and think he’s the best Governor Florida has ever had. That said, I am horrified at his decision to endorse Senator King. King has rejected everything it means to be a Republican. From his votes to give college tuition to illegal aliens, support abortion on demand, or allow homosexuals to adopt children, he has left the Republican base behind. I would urge Governor Bush in the strongest possible terms to reconsider what he’s doing”, said Kay Reagan Durden, Executive Committee member, and Campaign Coordinator for Ronald Reagan in 1980 for Northeast Florida.
Former State Senator Dan Jenkins, who represented Jacksonville in the Florida State Senate in the 1980’s, is endorsing Randall Terry, and calling for Senator King’s defeat:
"Randall Terry is one of the most courageous advocates of conservative causes I have ever met. Sadly, Jim King is the ‘Ted Kennedy’ of Florida politics. Getting rid of Jim King, and electing Randall Terry should be a top priority for any true-blue Republican." --Senator Dan Jenkins, Jacksonville, Retired
King is a longtime liberal Republican. He has voted for college tuition for illegal immigrants, supports abortion on demand, supports gay adoption, killed medical malpractice reform in the senate, and most recently took a $48,000 trip to Canada paid for the gambling industry. King is currently under investigation for the trip. --Kay Reagan Durden and Senator Jenkins are joined by many other Republicans.
Following is a quote from Dr. Glenn Knox, another Republican Executive Committee member.
“How Governor Bush can support a liberal Republican like Jim over a solid conservative like Randall Terry is beyond me. King fights the Governor at every turn. King single handedly killed the Governor’s bill on medical malpractice reform. Additionally, he gave chairmanships and vice chairmanships to 16 senate democrats when he as president of the Florida senate. I beg the Governor not to endorse King; let the voters of the 8th District decide this race for themselves.” -- Dr. Glenn Knox, Duval County Republican Executive Committee Member.
These Executive Committee Members represent the tip of the iceberg.
King faces longtime conservative activist Randall Terry September 5th in the Republican Primary.
