LOS ANGELES, April 1 /Christian Newswire/ -- Mission Doctors Association (MDA) announces the introduction of the Million Patients Project website, a nationwide grassroots fundraising campaign designed to raise enough money to send doctors to care for One Million Patients in rural Africa and Latin America. MDA has sent and supported Catholic doctors who have served around the world for over 50 years, and this project will allow people of all walks of life to get involved and help provide life saving medical care for the men, women and children of all faiths in some of the most under served areas of the world.

The medical needs of these individuals often go unmet, not only due to limited resources but also due to a lack of trained professionals. As a result millions around the world suffer from diseases, lower quality of life, and shortened life spans. MDA was founded over 50 years ago to help meet these overwhelming needs. Mission Doctors is the only organization that is exclusively dedicated to train, send and support Catholic doctors and their families who provide care for people of all faiths at mission hospitals and clinics.

"The One Million Patients Project is a completely new, exciting venture for Mission Doctors Association website. This will allow us to expand our ability to reach out and provide care to more people at the hospitals and clinics that have already requested our assistance. When we have broken down the cost and services provided, it takes only $3.00 to make it possible for a doctor to care for one patient ... $3.00 to put a doctor at the bedside of a patient in a hospital in Cameroon, $3.00 to make it possible for a doctor to deliver twins in Guatemala, $3.00 for a doctor to provide emergency care at a hospital in Uganda. If one million people can give just $3.00 each -- together we can make it possible for Mission Doctors to care for one million patients, a goal certainly worthy of our efforts."
