ENUMCLAW, Wash., Sept. 6, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Events as devastating as a hurricane have hit Jim Carpenter. The dissolution of his seemingly perfect marriage and the tragic loss of his son are threatening to overwhelm him. It looks as if there is no way out. This work of fiction is the story of "Storm Warnings," but it also mirrors the real life of author Gary Morris.
Fascinated by weather forecasting and a devotee of The Weather Channel, thirty-something Jim Carpenter senses a personal storm developing in the distance. He notices that the cracks in the foundation of his marriage have widened with neglect, and the death of his son only hastens its collapse. Divorced and alone, Jim discovers a force greater than a hurricane that gives him renewed hope.
With over twenty years in ministry and a successful career in the finance, insurance, and medical industries, author Gary Morris has also lived out a hurricane in his personal life. During the rebuilding of Mississippi immediately after Hurricane Katrina, Gary began to write about his life through the fictional character of Jim Carpenter, and "Storm Warnings" is the result. After the Storm, a continuation of this fictional recreation of non-fiction events, is in the works.
Born out of a time of great personal pain, "Storm Warnings" is Gary Morris's warning to those who think this could never happen to them and an encouragement for those who are experiencing storms themselves.
