National Conference Promotes Understanding the Times

Contact: Jan Markell, 763-493-3010

MEDIA ADVISORY, Oct. 1 /Christian Newswire/ -- Jan Markell and Olive Tree Ministries will present their tenth "Understanding the Times" conference October 19 - 20, 2007. Conference speakers this year include author and commentator Joel Rosenberg, Bible prophecy scholar Dr. David Reagan, Dr. Ron Carlson on false teachings/teachers, Jason Carlson on the Emergent Church, and co-founder of Jeremiah Films, Caryl Matrisciana.

The event will be held at Grace Church, Eden Prairie, a southwest suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota. It begins Friday night, October 19, and continues all day Saturday, October 20. Issues include current events from a biblical perspective, Bible prophecy, and topics that help Christians contend for the faith in an age of deception, even in the church.

There is no cost or registration needed.

Olive Tree Ministries was founded by Jan Markell to help Christians deal with current issues from a biblical perspective and "contending issues" that many churches and other institutions have dropped in the last 20 years. Markell says, "If our pastors and seminaries won't deal with the tough issues and show little discernment in what is taught, then para-church ministries must do it. Because we focus on the truth, even the inconvenient truth, attendees come from around the country, Canada, and the U.K. to better understand the times and contend for the faith. Our usual attendance is 4,000 to 5,000."

Markell continues, "People leave saying they have never heard about some of our issues in any kind of depth. They say they have a new awareness they will take to friends, family, and their church. The world just makes much more sense to them as well as the many deception concerns of our day particularly as they relate to the faith."
