NOBLE, OK, Sept. 29 /Christian Newswire/ -- Balfour Books, a "pro Israel" book division, is now under new management. Purchased this summer from New Leaf Publishing Group by former NLPG editor Jim Fletcher, Balfour will continue on with its focus on the Middle East and America's relationship to the Jewish state.
"We simply have a passion for presenting a different view -- we think a realistic view -- of Israel than mainstream media present," says Fletcher.
With titles like Nations United, by respected Holocaust scholar Alex Grobman, and Entebbe, by Iddo Netanyahu, Balfour Books has the credibility and track record to expand its influence. "Balfour has an intriguing lineup coming in the next year," Fletcher emphasizes. "We are in a good position because we do not temper our publishing list because of the winds of geopolitics; we will stay on-course by presenting Israel as a bastion of humanitarian values...in a very difficult region of the world."
Created in 2003, Balfour Books has served as a publishing platform for conservative authors, including Grobman, EMET director Sarah Stern, and Netanyahu, whose riveting account of his older brother's (Jonathan) involvement in the famous Entebbe hostage rescue has become a classic.
"Balfour Books needs to maintain its own independence as a publishing forum, so that the focus remains on recent Israeli history and personalities," Fletcher maintains. "We are more than happy to take on leftist propaganda as it regards Israel."
For example, as mainstream media powers downplay Arab terrorism toward Israel and America, Balfour Books will put the spotlight on Palestinian obligations in any future peace accord with Israel.
"We are willing to work with anyone who offers a counterweight to Arab propaganda, and that includes evangelical Christians and secular Jews," says Fletcher. With upcoming titles about terrorism and Zionist history, Balfour Books plans a full-range of marketing plans for promoting such titles.
"Every time I visit Israel, I'm reminded that the human spirit can triumph over evil," says Fletcher. "We want Balfour Books to help Israel, even in a small way."
