Chuck Colson to Deliver Address for RTS/Orlando Presidential Inauguration

ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 11, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Orlando campus of Reformed Theological Seminary will inaugurate its fourth president, Dr. Donald W. Sweeting, on February 10, 2011, at 4:00 p.m. in the Pamplin Chapel. Chuck Colson, syndicated columnist, author international speaker, radio commentator, founder of Prison Fellowship and former aide to the late President Nixon, will deliver the address. The inauguration ceremony is preceded by a 1:00p.m. Scholars Forum, with several noted scholars discussing "The Future of the New Calvinism and Evangelicalism in the 21st Century," including Dr. Bruce Ware (Southern Baptist Theological Seminary), Dr. John Woodbridge (Trinity Evangelical Divinity School), Dr. Michael Allen (Knox Seminary) and Dr. Scott Swain (RTS).

Dr. Sweeting served as the senior pastor of Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church in Englewood, Colo., for 12 years. Originally from New Jersey, he was raised in northern Illinois. He earned a B.A. in history from Lawrence University, an M.A. from Oxford University in England, studied at Regent College in Vancouver, B.C. and received a doctorate in church history from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

While serving as a pastor, Dr. Sweeting taught church history at Denver Seminary, served as chairman of the theology committee for the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, and remains a trustee on the board of Colorado Christian University. His father was an educator-pastor, serving for many years as the president of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. Don and his wife Christina have four children: James, Jonathan, Joshua and Julianna.

Dr. Bruce Ware is also the guest speaker for the February 9 inaugural chapel service, with Jeremy Casella of Indelible Grace serving as the worship leader.
