LOUISVILLE, Ky., Oct. 1 /Christian Newswire/ -- Care Net recently awarded Linda Cochrane the Dr. Harold O.J. Brown Sanctity of Human Life Award, honoring Linda's ministry to women and men who have suffered emotionally from abortions. Presented on September 22 at Care Net's national pregnancy center conference in Louisville, KY, the award distinguishes the impact Linda's post-abortion programs have made through pregnancy centers around the world.
"No other person has contributed more to post-abortion recovery work than Linda Cochrane," said Kristin Hansen, Care Net's Vice President of Communications. "Through Linda's Bible study, thousands of women and men each year are being transformed through the healing compassion of Christ."
Linda's Bible study "Forgiven and Set Free" has been published for eleven years and translated into six languages, including Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian and Romanian. The study is the first post-abortion recovery program developed, and is the foundational material for Care Net pregnancy centers' post-abortion recovery programs. Linda also co-authored "Healing a Father's Heart," a post-abortion Bible study for men. Last year alone, over 13,000 women and men completed one of these studies.
Currently, Linda is the National Consultant on Post-Abortion Recovery at Care Net and the Executive Director of the Hopeline Pregnancy Center in Danbury, Connecticut. A registered nurse specializing in psychiatric and public health nursing, Linda has served in pregnancy centers for the past twenty-three years and has taught abortion recovery seminars on the local and national level since 1987.
The Dr. Harold O.J. Brown Sanctity of Human Life Award recognizes the lifetime achievements of individuals committed to the pro-life cause. Harold O.J. Brown, the founder of Care Net and an accomplished educator and scholar, first received the annual award in 2003. Dr. Brown passed away on July 8, 2007.
