WASHINGTON, Jan 30, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ -- Rising indie film star, Jenn Gotzon ("Frost/Nixon"), "Doonby's" director, Peter Mackenzie, and co-star, Joe Estevez, spoke to March for Life and film screening attendees in Washington, D.C. Jan 21 to Jan 25, 2013; a week of monumental historical events. A perfect meshing of history markers with President Obama's 2nd Term Inauguration, Martin Luther King's 50th Anniversary of 'I have a dream' speech, and the 40 year marker of Supreme Court ruling on Roe v. Wade. Freezing temperatures and snow that week did not slow down the March for Life, with attendees well over 500,000 people strong. Gotzon, playing the President's daughter Tricia Nixon in Ron Howard's Oscar-nominated "Frost/Nixon," reenacted history during Nixon's resignation speech in "Frost/Nixon," now a leading lady making proactive film about morality and choices, "Doonby" all in spirit of the week. Film contains a special cameo appearance by Norma McCorvey ("Jane Roe" in Roe v. Wade) who says in "Doonby" movie "children are a gift from God" (exclusive photos below).
NET TV sponsored 16 buses to charter residents from Brooklyn, NY to attend this year's March for Life in Washington DC. After the march in the chilly snow, students ages 10 to 21 arrived for hot cocoa and popcorn to attend the "Doonby" screening. Listening to actress Gotzon share on her backstory with her desire to work on films that give hope and redemption, students gained a positive role model in the entertainment industry that day. "We need to ensure the choices we make speak life and love and not hatred upon those around us," says Gotzon.
After the screening, the students clamored around to ask questions and receive autographs from the director and cast garnishing posters using their t-shirts and hats for a signature. "It's important to have a young actress stand up as a positive role model for our kids to look up to. It gives them hope and someone to aspire to be like. She spoke boldly about her faith and how prayer and going to church keeps her grounded," states Jarisa Santiago, chaperone for students from Brooklyn, NY attending screening.
Gotzon's heart is to encourage and enthuse the generations, young and old, through the roles she plays in movies. Strongly motived by this, she serves as a spokesmodel for NET TV and AMTC Actors Models Talent for Christ, a ministry / education program who strive to make the world better.
Gotzon shares her passion to impact and inspire audiences on screen through her program entitled 'Inspiring Audiences,' through which she screens the films she plays in. Afterwards, she shares her journey discussing how to overcome life's obstacles and live your dreams.
