WASHINGTON, April 4, 2016 /Christian Newswire/ -- As the Nuclear Security Summit wrapped up this weekend in Washington, D.C. Congressman Trent Franks (photo), Missile Defense Caucus co-chair, responded with the following statement:

"On Friday, President Obama stood before the world at the Nuclear Security Summit, arrogantly claiming the world is safer from nuclear weapons because of his Administration. His statement couldn't be further from the truth. The Obama Administration has abandoned our allies, encouraged rogue regimes to pursue nuclear weapons, and slow-rolled the destruction of the Islamic State.

"Russia, who holds the largest stockpile of nuclear weapons, was glaringly missing from the summit, knowing they had nothing to gain by attending. The erratic North Korean regime continues their nuclear and missile tests with no concern of any serious consequences. The Administration's 'deal' with Iran, allows the mullahs to develop a nuclear weapon in ten years even if they follow the agreement to the letter.

"Mr. Obama's remarks are at odds with reality and did not address any of the major threats we face. Under his leadership, the world is a more chaotic and dangerous place, and the Islamic terrorists and rogue regimes which mean us ill have more leeway than ever before to pursue the world's most dangerous weapons. I stand committed to using every tool at my disposal to prevent that from happening."

Congressman Franks is serving his seventh term in the U.S. House of Representatives and is a member of the Judiciary Committee, where he serves as Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Constitution and a member of the Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet. He is also a member of the Armed Services Committee, where he serves as Vice-Chairman of the Subcommittee on Emerging Threats, and Capabilities and a member of the Strategic Forces Subcommittee.
