WASHINGTON, April 15, 2011 /Christian Newswire/ -- Today, the Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) announced it will target Sens. Bob Casey (D-PA), Ben Nelson (D-NE) and Claire McCaskill (D-MO) to educate constituents about their senator's vote in support of taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood. The campaign will kick off with targeted radio ads featuring testimony from former Planned Parenthood Clinic Director Abby Johnson and asks constituents to contact their senator to voice disapproval over his or her vote.

"Votes have consequences, especially for politicians who say one thing at home and do another in Washington when it comes to protecting Life," said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. "As self-described 'pro-life' Democrats, Sens. Nelson and Casey betrayed their constituents by voting for taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood. Claire McCaskill, a supposed 'moderate,' will have a hard time justifying to her constituents why she voted to continue giving their tax dollars to America's largest abortion provider during a time of fiscal crisis. Funding an organization that flaunts federal law and cares nothing for the safety of women and young girls makes no fiscal sense, especially at a time when our country is in fiscal peril.

"The SBA List promised to watch closely as vulnerable senators cast these important votes and we are following through. Voter education starts today. Constituents in Pennsylvania, Nebraska and Missouri will hold these politicians accountable for their votes."

In the ad, Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood clinic Employee of the Year, exposes the corporate realities behind Planned Parenthood's abortion-based business model which relies on meeting abortion quotas to increase revenue.

The SBA List spent more than $500,000 on a robust campaign to defund Planned Parenthood, which included television and radio ads, a bus tour, grassroots mobilization and print ads. The organization released statements by potential 2012 Republican presidential candidates in support of the defunding effort.

The Susan B. Anthony List spent $11 million during the 2010 midterm election cycle. Overall, the SBA List was involved in 90 races including 62 wins and 28 losses. Successes included: defeating 15 of 20 so-called "pro-life" Democrats who voted for abortion funding in the health care reform bill; increasing the number of pro-life women in the House by 70 percent; filling the void of pro-life women in the U.S. Senate and increasing the number of pro-life women governors from one to four.
