WASHINGTON, July 21 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Christian Defense Coalition is calling for a week of prayer and fasting after a “crime emergency” was declared in Washington D.C. (See news article).
The group is inviting the faith community to join them for prayer every evening at 7:30 P.M. under a large tent being set up on the National Mall.
The location of the tent is just west of 3rd Street NW on the Mall and prayer will begin on Friday, July 21st.
Supporters will be taking the extraordinary step of praying and believing that God will reduce crime in our nation’s capitol over the next six months.
They will discuss their plans at a news conference which will be held at the tent on Friday, July 21st, at 7:30 P.M. before the prayer gathering.
Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Washington, D.C. based Christian Defense Coalition, comments, “Throughout our history, Americans have turned to God in prayer during times of crisis, challenge and adversity. In response to the ‘crime emergency’ declared by Washington’s police chief, we are asking the faith community to seek God for His blessing and mercy in helping end the increase of crime in our nation’s capital. It is critical that we do not forget to acknowledge God in the midst of all the other efforts the city is putting forward to help deal with the crime emergency. As we pray, we are believing that God will reduce crime in Washington, D.C. over the next six months.”
