ENUMCLAW, Wash., Dec. 3 /Christian Newswire/ -- In her new book, "wHispers: when He is so precious even rocks sing," author Shirley Vogel recounts her painful journey from rejection to a joy-filled reliance on God, and how God's faithfulness and power can conquer any challenge.
Written in three parts, "wHispers" follows Shirley through her devastating divorce, a divinely appointed remarriage, numerous health challenges, a prayer of rededication, and accepting many key leadership roles purely on faith in God. Shirley is both candid and vulnerable in sharing her darkest life moments.
"It's my prayer that both the trials and God's blessings on my life will be instrumental in drawing you into a new or deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. It's my privilege to share with you how I came to understand in very real ways, the words of Nehemiah 8:10: 'Do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.'"
Shirley Pieters (Vogel) was born in tiny East Palmyra, NY and raised in the Christian Reformed Church where, at age thirteen, she accepted Jesus as her Savior. She recently completed 20 years of full-time volunteer ministry at Brewster Baptist Church in Brewster, Massachusetts. An inspirational speaker and writer, Shirley also works as a consultant for those wanting to develop "wHispers Ministries."
Throughout her narrative, Shirley encourages readers to listen to God, to hear Him speak through the silences of prayer and to trust Him to bring renewal in any situation, in His own unique, sovereign way.
"When we permit God to take our lives in His hands and mold us according to His perfect plan - we can go forward with huge hope and joyful expectancy, knowing that even tough days with God are much better than perfect days without knowing the joy of His Presence."
Shirley and Stefan, her husband of 22 years, live on Cape Cod. There Shirley serves on the board and mentors women in the Bridge to Hope ministry for women who are or have been incarcerated. Collectively the Vogels are parents of six loving children and grandparents to fourteen. To purchase a book visit www.winepressbooks.com or call 877-421-7323.
