James Fortune to Perform for FBCLG Scholarship Ministry Event
The event will raise scholarship money for local youth in the community

SOMERSET, N.J., June 18, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ -- Award winning gospel sensation, James Fortune, will be performing at First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens (FBCLG) on Saturday, June 21, 2014. Fortune will give a show in support of the FBCLG Scholarship Ministry. He will be accompanied by his group singers and band to deliver an outstanding show. King of dramedy, J.D. Lawrence will be the host for the evening. Admission is $15 and the concert will be held at 771 Somerset St., Somerset, N.J., starting at 7:00 p.m.

Fortune is a two-time Grammy-Award nominated gospel music recording artist, songwriter and producer. He is also a radio personality on 1190 AM WLIB. Fortune was honored at the 19th annual ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Music Awards for his hit single "You Survived" off his highly anticipated debut CD "You Survived." James Fortune received a 2006 ASCAP Writers Award for "You Survived" alongside some of music's big artists like L.L. Cool J., Mary Mary, Kirk Franklin and J. Moss.

The Scholarship Ministry at FBCLG originated in 1964 with the intention to provide financial support to youth who desire to attend an institution of higher learning after high school. "Arts in the Afternoon," was created to help raise scholarship money in effort to support the mission of the ministry. The annual event consists of music, dancing, art and poetry along with a special keynote speaker.
