PEMBROKE PINES, Fla., Oct. 4, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Adriana Gonzalez did not even know what "going viral" meant until she had a video made that did just that. This homeschooling mother of 7 was not political, but desired to serve God and reach out to others before the election. Along with her physician husband, Manuel, she founded Catholics Called to Witness(CC2W.org) and had the "Test of Fire" (youtu.be/iiG9NMkPhus) video made. It touched a chord, and within a few months, over 2 million people had viewed it.
It all began with a meeting in the Gonzalez's home last November. It was then that Adriana had come across an article in which Pope Benedict XVI said that some issues were non-negotiable. "For instance," she explained, "the economy is not equal to life issues." The meeting was a brainstorming session that ended up with a core message of the three non-negotiable principals stressed by the Holy Father: the sanctity of life from birth to natural death, marriage as being between one man and one woman, and religious freedom. "We wanted to appeal to Catholics and encourage them to vote their faith," Adriana said.
After the encouragement of a friend, Adriana and her husband met with another friend who owned a video company www.creative-lab.com. "We told him about the message of the non-negotiables, and the idea emerged to use the image of an old-fashioned blacksmith forging iron pieces into words that reflect some of the campaign issues." It states, "In generations past, the church has always been able to count on the faithful to stand up and protect her sacred rights and duties. This generation of Catholics must do the same." The video concludes with the message, "Your vote will affect the future and be recorded in eternity. Will you vote the values that will stand the test of fire?"
The video company posted it on YouTube. "Every time I checked, there were tens of thousands more views," Adriana said. "I called a friend and asked, 'Is this what going viral means?'" CC2W, now using their own YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/cc2w) is using all forms of social media to get this video to undecided voters through Facebook(www.facebook.com/CatholicsCalledToWitness), Twitter(twitter.com/CC2W), LinkedIn(www.linkedin.com/company/catholics-called-to-witness), and Webinars(attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/3694928961765511936).
